Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom tooth problems usually affect people in their late teens or early twenties. An infection around a wisdom tooth is called pericoronitis. It is not unusual for the wisdom teeth to be impacted, which means that they don't have enough room to come completely through the gum. If the wisdom teeth are impacted, they can be "squeezed" into strange angles, making it even more unlikely that they will ever come through properly. For people with wisdom tooth problems, it is often better to have them removed, as repeated infections around wisdom teeth cause a great deal of unhappiness. Even though antibiotics can be used as an emergency measure to treat wisdom tooth infections, in the long run, troublesome wisdom teeth are best removed.
